Permalink Recording Of Debut Album

We’re pleased to announce that Ludavico will be recording their debut album at the renowned Loose Stone Studios on the Gold Coast. The album will be produced by Matt Bartlem and Tyse Lee, to be named closer to release, for an eight week period from late January.

From the recently released debut album by Dead Letter Circus, “This Is The Warning”, to independent acts such as Sleepers and metals acts like Sunk Loto, Loose Stone Studios has consistently produced world class recordings of artists all around the country and we’re pleased to have the opportunity to record at the studio with Tyse and Matt.

Ludavico will be documenting the pre-production and recording process and a documentary/video diary will be made available following the release of the album next year.

Mailing list subscribers will receive updates and tidbits on the album along the way so make sure you get your friends to sign up and spread the word!

Following a short break during August while guitarist Nat Dash takes time off to marry his fiancée, Ludavico will continue writing the album and performing key shows in the lead up to the production period.

Stay tuned for announcements of upcoming shows and news via our various channels. You can find these at the top of the website.

Permalink Double Negative CD Review

Double Negative

Bianca from the online music blog Music For The Laundromat has done a brief review of Ludavico’s debut EP ‘Double Negative’. Check it out here:

The local alternative and heavy rock scene has been producing some fairly high quality bands over the past couple of years, and Ludavico are going to be another name to add to the list. The four piece has managed to create a high accessible debut full of well written tracks. Their sound is built around obvious influences of early Incubus and hints of what could be A Perfect Circle, as well as being fairly reminiscent of Australian acts Karnivool and the Butterfly Effect. ‘I (N)Ever Wanted’ proves that the band can play the slower tracks as well as the rockers without sounding like a cheesy power ballad. ‘The Collapse’ opens with driving, rhythmic drums which remain strong throughout the EP, supporting each track like clockwork. Bass is featured heavily (and even has a short solo during ‘Sleeping in Denial’!), while distorted guitar comes to the forefront at just the right moments a riff here, a short solo there. The vocals are strong and seamless, going from urgent and punctuated verses to massive soaring choruses. A really impressive listen from a local band.

Ludavico will be taking a short hiatus during July and August while our guitarist, Dash, prepares for his big day at the end of August. Our last show will be on the 16th of July at The Globe supporting Live Fish from the United States and Finabah after they return from their Rock The Schools national tour. We’re excited to have the chance to play alongside Finabah once again after their recent successes around the country.

Our returning show takes place on the 18th of September with details to follow closer to the event. Make sure you head to The Globe on the 16th so you don’t miss us and we’ll see you all after the break if we don’t see you beforehand.

At The Globe this Friday 14th May, Ludavico will be playing a brand new progressive rock song and a key part of the album in progress. Dubbed “September Nothing”, the song is a heavy progressive piece weaving through highs and lows over approximately four minutes and breathes an array of different melodic and rhythmic colours.

Permalink Press Record EP Review

Press Record’s Yazzi Williams reviews the EP “Double Negative”.

Brisbane band Ludavico has coupled well-rounded drums with some steady bass sounds and harder lead riffs on the eight track EP (extended play) Double Negative featuring songs written over the first three years of their musical career. The short, catchy songs give you little time to reflect, but every opportunity to appreciate the musicality.
